The Peephole

Miss Roseanne was the prettiest teacher in school. Her pretty face caused her a lot
of relationship problems. Gossips about her relationships were the source of news in
the small town.

One afternoon, Detective Bowen went to her house to discuss about one of her students. He pressed on the bell but there was no answer. Detective Bowen thought she was in the shower or something, so he waited for while and pressed the bell again. There was still no answer. The detective was rather impatient because he had made an appointment with her earlier.

Miss  Roseanne had an automatic lock installed at her front door. Unless the lock was turned off by a special key, there was no way anyone could open it from outside. Detective Bowen was rather annoyed because he was not informed if there was a change of plan. He called the security officers’ office for help.

A security officer, sensing something was wrong because Miss Roseanne did not answer the emergency call he made, had the door unlocked immediately.  The men found her on the floor of the sitting room, with a knife, deep in her chest. She was in her sleeping gown and blood was everywhere. The coroner put the time of her death approximately at 9 that morning.

Later, the police revealed there were two men who visited the teacher before 9 a.m. One was Miss Roseanne’s fiancé; the other was her student who was a notorious hooligan. The hooligan happened to be stalking her too.

When probed, both men insisted they had pressed the bell, but Miss Roseanne did not answer the door. Suddenly, Detective Bowen remembered that there was a peephole at the front door. He had solved the case!

Do you know who the murderer was?
