The Peephole

      Miss Roseanne was the prettiest teacher in school. Her pretty face caused her a lot
of relationship problems. Gossips about her relationships were the source of news in
the small town.

      One afternoon, Detective Bowen went to her house to discuss about one of her students. He pressed on the bell but there was no answer. Detective Bowen thought she was in the shower or something, so he waited for while and pressed the bell again. There was still no answer. The detective was rather impatient because he had made an appointment with her earlier.

      Miss  Roseanne had an automatic lock installed at her front door. Unless the lock was turned off by a special key, there was no way anyone could open it from outside. Detective Bowen was rather annoyed because he was not informed if there was a change of plan. He called the security officers’ office for help.

     A security officer, sensing something was wrong because Miss Roseanne did not answer the emergency call he made, had the door unlocked immediately.  The men found her on the floor of the sitting room, with a knife, deep in her chest. She was in her sleeping gown and blood was everywhere. The coroner put the time of her death approximately at 9 that morning.

     Later, the police revealed there were two men who visited the teacher before 9 a.m. One was Miss Roseanne’s fiancĂ©; the other was her student who was a notorious hooligan. The hooligan happened to be stalking her too.

     When probed, both men insisted they had pressed the bell, but Miss Roseanne did not answer the door. Suddenly, Detective Bowen remembered that there was a peephole at the front door. He had solved the case!

      Do you know who the murderer was?

The Uninvited Guest

      Thomas, the Private Investigator decided to go to Friday Island for a holiday. He stayed in a budget hotel. The hotel had four levels; and levels 3 and 4 were all single rooms. Thomas stayed in room 404.

     After a long day of sight-seeing, Thomas decided to take a hot bath and call it a day. He was walking to the bathroom when he heard a knock at the door. Suddenly it was opened and a head looked in. He was shocked to see Thomas.

    “Sorry, I thought this is my room!” he said and showed
Thomas his key tag, with the number 304.

    “No, this is Room 404!”

“Sorry!” The door was closed before Thomas could ask more.

     Thomas stared at the closed door for a while. Then he quickly called the front desk.

     “Hello, I want to report someone from Room 304 who is ransacking rooms in the fourth level!” he said.

     Soon, the hotel security guards apprehended the man.
They discovered stolen items such as laptops and
smartphones, as well as wallets and jeweleries. They also
found a copy of all the keys to the room in levels 3 and 4.

How did Thomas know the man was actually a thief?

Answer to The Easiest Arrest

Clue:   Make up artist thought of a way to save herself and her child.

Conclusion:

No, the police did not realize that he was the escaped convict. The make-up artist had cleverly disguised him with another dangerous convict’s face! That was why he was caught easily.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Easiest Arrest
A convict managed to overcome the guards in a small town prison and made his escape.  He planned to meet up his young son. However, he discovered later that the police had already broadcast the news of his flight. He was in a dilemma. He knew he had to do something.
He secretly went to a friend for help. His friend took him to a make-up artist. At first the artist refused to help him. The convict was angry and threatened to harm the artist’s child. The make-up artist had no choice.
The convict was rather happy with the finished job. He was astonished as he saw his face transformed into a new one which he believed even his wife and child could not recognise.  He had the artist tied up in her home and promised to release her after he met his family.
As he made his way to his own home, he was apprehended. He was shocked that the police could still recognise him.
What actually happened?
